Course Description A short but informative guide for Health and Mental Health professionals. This guide discusses facts vs. myths of Suicide and presents an overview of preventive guidelines as well as a section devoted to suicide and the elderly.
Course Objectives
1. Differentiate between factual information and myths pertaining to suicide risk and completion.
2. Identify sociodemographic and environmental risk factors for suicide, particularly with elderly populations.
3. Evaluate suicide prevention strategies including individual, professional, and community-based awareness and intervention programs.
4. Examine how psychiatric illnesses, medical conditions, alcohol, and andi-depressant medications impact suicidal individuals.
